My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Noteworthy experiences whilst reading this book (best parts, worst parts, quotes etc, personal opinions):

A perfect 5 stars! I started this last night and finished 4.5 hours later, Bash and Penny are a great duo, the book is full of humour and had me laughing out loud throughout (at 2am the husband wasn’t quite a forgiving to my late night reading). Perfect blend of fun and frolics, and by no means lacking in the sexy department, which is way I couldn’t put it down once I started reading.

The 2 main characters Sebastian ‘Bash’ Prince and Penny Pickett were perfectly developed, I loved the way Lili captured they’re playfulness flirtatiousness together right from the outset. I’m a huge fan of reading email/text conversations in books, it’s real life, the would revolves around mobile communication/social media. So MagnificentBastard1 and Penny4YourLobsterPot’s exchanges were spot on.

Lili you’ve captured something great!

Ladies Man, Katy Evans

Ladies Man (Manwhore, #3)Ladies Man by Katy Evans

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Noteworthy experiences whilst reading this book (best parts, worst parts, quotes etc, personal opinions):

When I first read Tahoe and Callan were getting their own books in the Manwhore series I did a little happy dance around my bedroom ~ my husband just doesn’t get it!

I thought no one could compete with Malcolm Saint, then along stalked Tahoe Roth, with his sexy Texan drawl (Matthew Mcconaughey) and Ragnar (Vikings) good looks. I can’t say Tahoe knocked Malcolm off the top spot, more liked joined him and started what’s going to be a pretty fucking hot wolf pack of alpha males (just waiting for Callan to join the pack next year).

For me this book was sexy as hell, not with sheet clawing, wall slamming, bent over the sofa sex scenes, but with the anticipation and electricity sparking off the pages between Regina and Roth, it got me fanning myself once or twice.

Katy captured these 2 characters perfectly, the spark/connection/chemistry between Tahoe and Gina was magnetic. I can say hand on heart, Ladies Man is one the best friends to lovers books I’ve read.

Fool For Love, Karen Ferry

Fool For Love (Believe, #2)Fool For Love by Karen Ferry

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Noteworthy experiences whilst reading this book (best parts, worst parts, quotes etc, personal opinions):

Karen has been teasing her fans on social media for awhile now with #FFL teasers and extracts. Finally I got to sink my teeth in to Garrett and like a dog with a bone I wasn’t letting him go!

Suzy and Garrett’s story isn’t your usual run of the mill boy meets girl, girls falls head over heels, boy has trust issues, boy and girl end up HEA. This is a story about exploring sexuality, friendship, heartache, passion and acceptance. Individually they are great characters, Karen doesn’t like to keep them simple though, she loves to throw a curve ball or 2 too keep her readers on their toes.

What I really enjoyed about #FFL was that the 2 characters and kudos to Karen, were told in UK English (Suzy) and US English (Garrett); making the characters more real.

I’m a fan of cross over character series, as you can build up the bigger picture as each character unfolds, rather than 5 books on the same couple. This series can be read as standalone’s but to really appreciate the characters it’s great to read them in order. I can’t wait for book #3

I love Karen Ferry’s work, I’m fortunate enough to be friends with Karen on her social media pages, and the quirkiness of her writing style, in both Make Me Believe and Fool For Love is endearing, and what she translates into paper, is the passion she radiates online. She is just a genuine feel good person, and talented not only in her books, but her swag is AMAZING! and author I can call a friend.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Noteworthy experiences whilst reading this book (best parts, worst parts, quotes etc, personal opinions):

OK, firstly not what I was expecting at all from this book! I was channeling a Trainspotting, junkie on the streets of London based book, but what I got was A FUCKING ORGASM mash up of Cocaine Cowboys + Maria Full of Grace + El Cartel and a whole load of other South American based drug trafficking/cartel films (I love a good cartel film).

Isla is living in hell, she’s a drug mule living in a very dark underworld with no way of escaping.
Javier is a newbie just joining the Mexican cartel, he get’s more than he bargained for! If you love dark books, angst, heart stopping drama you’ll love HH, it’s dark and it’s twisted! it’s great to read this by a fellow Brit, usually it’s our cousins the Aussie’s that nail dark angst.

Fantastic book Kirsty-Anne!

Sex Addict, Brooke Blaine, Ella Frank

Sex AddictSex Addict by Brooke Blaine

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Noteworthy experiences whilst reading this book (best parts, worst parts, quotes etc, personal opinions):

“Well, inexperienced she must be because no respectable single female wanting to pick up a man would admit to owning two cats.”

“One can never have enough pussy.”

I wasn’t sure what I was getting with this book, yes the title and blurb give it away slightly, but I just thought it would be about the usual alpha male that just likes to fuck, falls for a girl and spends the whole book trying to prove himself and gain her trust. However, with Evan it’s more then him fucking himself into oblivion, the guy has a genuine addiction, in therapy, loses everything because of it etc etc but it’s not just him, Reagan is a feisty strong minded female and has a secret that she’s not easily willing to share. This book is certainly addictive but anything by Ella for me is, and Brooke is the cherry on top.

The book is wrote in 3 parts, 1st Evan, 2nd Reagan then joint POV, but it’s a good pace, and easy to keep up. It had a few twists and turns, laughs and heartache and packed with sex as you’d expect from these 2 writers.

Behind Closed Doors, B.A. Paris

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace.

He has looks and wealth, she has charm and elegance. You might not want to like them, but you do. Though, you’d like to get to know Grace better.

But it’s difficult, because you realise Jack and Grace are never apart.

Some might call this true love. Others might ask why Grace never answers the phone. Or how she can never meet for coffee, even though she doesn’t work. How she can cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim. And why there are bars on one of the bedroom windows.

Sometimes, the perfect marriage is the perfect lie.

Noteworthy experiences whilst reading this book (best parts, worst parts, quotes etc, personal opinions):

Overall I enjoyed the book, it was a good break from my romance reads, and it was easy to pick up and put down. Not a complicated read just a few loose ends:

Ending – too rushed and not explained in enough detail compared to the beginning/middle. How did nobody not notice the bedroom and shutters after the police were called, why was Grace not asked about why she painted the graphic paintings, Jake had already told their friends that she paints Diane and Adam didn’t question. Esther was the only one that put 2 & 2 together about the red room at the end and what it was going to be used for.

Bangkok – staying on the balcony all day locked in, where were the cleaners? I liked the room next door test. What exactly did Jack do in Bangkok?

More background on Jack, what was his real name, did he really kill his mum?

I liked Millie’s character and how she played her part within the story, I thought she brought a fun element that made her endearing.

Your Captivating Love, Layla Hagen

Your Captivating Love (The Bennett Family, #2)Your Captivating Love by Layla Hagen

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 sapphires

This is my 2nd Layla Hagen read, and she has fast turned into a go to author for me, and the books in this Bennett series can not come out fast enough!

I’ve just re-read my review of Your Irresistible Love, and it nails it for Your Captivating Love too. Not because it’s the same story in any way, but because I still want to be ‘an adopted Bennett’. This book continues where Sebastian and Ava left us in book 1, but picks up with her best friend clothes designer Nadine, and CFO of Bennett Enterprises Logan Bennett as the main characters. Where Sebastian was the think logic and strategy in everything he does brother, Logan is the protector, take action and deal with the consequences later brother, especially if it’s his family.

Not being lazy, but my previous review really says it all (with a few little additions)… I really enjoyed this book from start to finish, it was a good easy read, perfect for a lazy Sunday on the sofa or sunbed on the beach. It’s not over thought or complex with plot twist and turns so you don’t know your arse from your elbow, it doesn’t have a heroine with family issues, a dark past that she can’t move forward, yes she has some issues with trust as her ex screwed her over but they overcome these together, and Logan isn’t a screwed up alpha with an unrepairable heart, it was simple, light hearted BUT fulfilling.

Layla has made all the Bennett characters in these books easy to relate to, and in this book you just get to see a more of them. I’m looking forward to Pippa’s book next, but the one’s I really want to know more about are Christopher and Max, we’ve yet to scratch the surface with that set of twins.
I sat down to read this after finishing a real heart wrencher of a book, and this is just what I need, light, fun and sexy.

4.5⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is the first male POV book I’ve read that wasn’t written as a supporting novel. I didn’t realise that’s how it was when I first started reading and really didn’t notice until towards the end as it’s so well written and executed RVD has hit the spot once again.

I loved the storyline in this book, something different to my usual alpha dominant CEO billionaire or dark angsty read. Both the central and supporting characters were full of life and developed really well throughout the story. It was quite a fast paced book, but the wit and original storyline keep you hooked.

Blake let out another pitiful groan. “I don’t think it fits.”

“They measured you. It fits. Just, tell me if it looks okay so we can go.” I checked my watch. “Gabi said dinner was at six, and it’s already a quarter till.”

“This is too much pressure.” Her voice was frantic. “I can’t do this. I mean, how do I know if it looks good? They’re boobs.”

I groaned. “Boobs always look good. Believe me.”

“Boobs are gross!”

Said no man ever. Even the gay ones.

One of the salesladies eyed me up and down. “Are you two okay?”

“Great,” I chirped. “Just having a very heated discussion about the beauty of breasts.” I dipped my chin to Blake’s chest. “What are you? A double D?”

Scowling, she marched off.

Thank God.

“Blake,” I hissed.

No answer.

I’d never had such a difficult client. If anything, they jumped when I told them to, asked how high, and then kept jumping until I was satisfied. Blake fought me at every turn.

“Open the door before I crawl underneath it. I’ll pick the bras, you can close your eyes if you want so you don’t have to watch me look at you, alright? My stomach literally just ate my liver. I need protein. Open. The. Door.”

The door slowly creaked open. Taking advantage of the small crack of air, I pushed it farther, then clicked it shut behind me and turned around.

Blake was facing me, hands on hips, face beet-red, body . . . freaking perfect. My tongue almost lolled out, like a dog.

Most girls starve themselves to have abs like that, which was disgusting. But her abs? They had muscle, actual muscle, but still appeared feminine.

She also had a nice tan, just enough to show that she spent time outside or maybe just had naturally darker skin.

My throat went completely dry as I continued to stare.

“Well?” Her voice was weak. “How awful do I look? On a scale of one to ten?”

I’d convinced her to buy some new workout clothes to replace her old ones. I knew I’d never get her to actually completely change her style. She liked workout clothes? Fine, at least buy the kind that fit and actually point to the correct gender. I tried to steer her away from the boyfriend sweats and sweatshirts, but she eventually wore me down, so I told her if she bought at least five new Pink outfits that had spandex in them, I’d let her get one pair of ugly slouchy sweats. You’d think I’d just given her a million dollars, from her reaction.

Currently, she was sporting a short pair of bright-blue yoga shorts.

And a black push-up sports bra that did wonders for her boobs.

And the world just in general.

Holy shit.

I gulped as I became more and more irritated with the fact that my body was reacting as if it had never seen a girl without her shirt on before. “Blake, it’s great.”

“You sound bored!”

I had to, damn it! What did she want me to do? Sound interested? Turned-on? Intrigued? Curious? I was all those things. I just tried to ignorethe insanity bouncing around in my head and blurted, “Your boobs look really good. Perky, happy, just . . . awesome.”

Did I just call her boobs “happy”?

“You think?” She stared down at her breasts, then grabbed them.

Holy shit, was she seriously feeling herself up? I braced my hand against the door and sucked in a breath.

“They still feel comfortable,” she said.

“Do they?” I managed to choke out while she continued bouncing them a bit in her hands. Dear Lord, did she know what she was doing? Waving a flag in front of a bull. My jeans suddenly tight in all the wrong areas, I tried to envision Lex naked, anything to get my dick to clue in to the word “client,” meaning I was in a no-play zone.

Another first.

It was because I was hungry.

And Marissa? Melissa? Hadn’t satisfied me. I’d gotten off, and made sure she did too, but the entire experience left me feeling empty, bored, and—if I was being completely honest? A bit depressed. Besides, her tits paled in comparison. I had to wonder what the hell I’d been doing all my life if this was the first time I was having such a strong reaction to boobs.

Something about Blake had me wondering if I’d been satisfied at all up until this point. And I had no idea what the hell was so confusing about her, and about the situation. I was unable to put my finger on it, and the more I thought about it the more my head hurt.

Hunger does weird things to guys.

“Yeah.” More bouncing, then turning and staring in the mirror. I wasn’t sure what was worse. Her staring at her own boobs or touching them. “I’m just no good at this stuff. I didn’t grow up with a mom, and I hit puberty really early. The girls made fun of me, and the boys pointed.” Her shoulders slumped inward again.

Could we please go back to the bouncing? I was a fan of that Blake. The one that rolled up like an awkward armadillo? Not so much.

Listen to Me, Kristen Proby

ListenToMe_Tour_Banner

Kristen Proby is known for writing heartfelt characters with deep connections and sizzling passion. This April, she will seduce readers’ senses with a brand new series, Fusion, from William Morrow Paperbacks, in which five best friends open a hot new restaurant together. Today, we are thrilled to bring you the Review & Excerpt Tour for LISTEN TO ME, the first book in the Fusion Series releasing April 12, 2016. LISTEN TO ME finds a hot former rock star looking for a steady gig at the restaurant, but he’ll have to convince the prickly front-of-house manager to take a chance on him—with her business and her heart.

Excerpt
A man walks onto the stage and sits on the stool, strums his guitar. The MC didn’t announce his name.

The singer is wearing a black T-shirt and jeans. No shoes. A hat is pulled down his forehead, shadowing his face.
But I’d recognize those tattoos anywhere.

“Oh my God, I think that’s Jake Knox,” I whisper to Kat in disbelief.

“The tattoos,” she breathes and I roll my eyes. “God, I used to be in love with him. I had his posters on my walls when I was in high school.”

“Most did,” I reply and watch as his fingers play the strings on his guitar as if he’s making love to a woman. “God, he can play.”

“What’s he doing at an open-mic night?” Kat turns wide eyes to me. “Does he live here?”

I nod. “Yeah, I heard somewhere that he lives nearby. Maybe he needs an ego boost?”

But then he begins to sing a familiar Lifehouse song, and my chest tightens. I love this song. I love his voice. It’s raw and rich and just a little bit raspy. It’s pure sex.

“He’d be absolutely perfect.” Kat’s voice is a whisper. She probably didn’t mean to say it out loud.

“I know we can’t afford him. He probably plays at celebrity weddings and shit.”

Jake glances up, showing his face and those amazing green eyes for the first time, and aims them right at me. He sings at least five lines, holding my gaze, then winks and lowers his head again.

Arrogant.

“Speaking of egos,” I murmur. “That would be a hot mess.”

“A sexy-as-fuck hot mess,” Kat replies. “God, look at the way his muscles bunch as he plays.”

Trust me, I noticed. You’d have to be blind with an IQ of minus 20 to not notice the way Jake Knox moves. He makes everything in me come awake. Which makes sense because he’s probably been trained to do that. He has to sell music, after all.

4 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I really enjoyed this book, a perfect balance of fun and romance. Kirsten is a fantastic author and always captures plot and characters perfectly. There’s very little drama and angst in this book, just a great romantic read. The main characters Jake and Addie were likable in every way, a hot rock star and sassy restaurant co-owner, a great match. Kirsten’s on to something with this new series of books, following all 5 restaurant co-owners and friends, we saw a little insight into the characters in Listen to Me, and I can’t wait to read the follow up Close to You where we’ll see more of Cami and Landon’s story.

About LISTEN TO ME:

In New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Proby’s brand new series, five best friends open a hot new restaurant, but one of them gets much more than she bargained for when a sexy former rock star walks through the doors—and into her heart.

Seduction is quickly becoming the hottest new restaurant in Portland, and Addison Wade is proud to claim 1/5 of the credit. She’s determined to make it a success and can’t think of a better way to bring in new customers than live music. But when former rock star Jake Keller swaggers through the doors to apply for the weekend gig, she knows she’s in trouble. Addie instantly recognizes him—his posters were plastered all over her bedroom walls in high school—he’s all bad boy…exactly her type and exactly what she doesn’t need.

Jake Keller walked away from the limelight five years ago and yearns to return to what’s always driven him: the music. If he gets to work for a smart-mouthed, funny-as-hell bombshell, all the better. But talking Addie into giving him the job is far easier than persuading her that he wants more than a romp in her bed. Just when she begins to drop her walls, Jake’s past finally catches up with him.

Will Addie be torn apart once again or will Jake be able to convince her to drown out her doubts and listen to her heart?
